Yelm man arrested after 3-vehicle crash on state Route 507

A Yelm man is facing vehicular assault charges following a three-vehicle crash on state Route 507 south of Rice Kandle Road shortly before midnight on Friday, Oct. 6.

Washington State Patrol officers arrested Franklin J. Cruz Aguon, 33, for suspicion of driving under the influence in the incident.



According to a WSP report, Cruz Aguon was traveling southbound on state Route 507 south of Rice Kandle Road when his Nissan truck struck a motorcycle and pushed it into another motorcycle in front of it. All three vehicles, which were totalled, came to rest on the right shoulder. The roadway was blocked for three hours and five minutes.

One motorcyclist, Deacon C. Morales, 30, of Federal Way, was injured and transported to Madigan Hospital, while Cruz Aguon was transported to St. Clare Hospital with injuries. The other motorcyclist, 32-year-old Keaka S. Walk, Lakewood, was not injured. Both motorcyclists were wearing helmets compliant with the United States Department of Transportation. It is unknown whether Cruz Aguon was wearing a seat belt.
