Yelm Farmers Market
The 2024 Yelm Farmers Market will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at 206 McKenzie Ave., near City Park. The event will feature 20 or more vendors offering farmers, artisans, bakers, beekeepers, leatherworkers and more, plus a children’s program and special events. Rainier Saturday Market
The Rainier Saturday Market will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 206 Binghampton St. SE, near Wilkowski Park, Saturdays until September. Among the items featured are custom blankets, vintage clothing, items for horses, paintings and other artwork, bird houses, planters, doll clothes, soil testing, seedlings and more.

Fifth annual Nisqually Valley Barbecue Rally
The fifth annual Nisqually Valley Barbecue Rally is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, at Yelm City Park. The yearly event is one of Yelm’s most popular attractions, drawing crowds of thousands each year to the park. Entertainment this year includes live bands and performances, along with a youth and adult pie-eating contest. The amateur barbecue competition will return; a beer, cider and wine garden will be included; and there will be activities for kids.
Movies in the Park
The annual Movies in the Park series at Longmire Park in Yelm is scheduled for July 27 with activities beginning at the location at 5 p.m. The movie, “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” will begin at 9:10 p.m. The movie is rated PG. There will be a concession stand opened at the park for snack sales at the event.
Friday, Aug. 2
Seventh annual Jazz in the Park
Enjoy a family-friendly night of “cozy ambiance” from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Yelm City Park, Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3, as the seventh annual Jazz in the Park event returns to Yelm. Admission to the event is free and allows spectators to enjoy live jazz bands. There will be a beer and wine garden featured, along with different food vendors.

Bertoglios Paint and Sip
Beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, Bertoglios Pizza, 704 W. Yelm Ave. in Yelm, will host an Artvana Paint and Sip art class. Attendants will paint “ocean paradise” on canvas, and tickets can be purchased on eventbrite.com.

Movies in the Park
The annual Movies in the Park series at Longmire Park in Yelm is scheduled for Aug. 10 with activities beginning at the location at 5 p.m. The movie, “A Bug’s Life,” will begin at 8:50 p.m. The movie is rated G. There will be a concession stand opened at the park for snack sales at the event.

Rockin’ Country Music Gala
Hope for Wild Hearts will host its Rockin’ Country Music Gala at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at the Lacamas Valley Ranch in Roy. Hope for Wild Hearts is a small, nonprofit corporation that’s committed to helping elderly horses and farm animals by providing sanctuary, rehabilitation and education to the community. Tickets to the event cost $100 and include dinner, drinks, dessert and more. A concert, featuring the Olson Brothers Band, will also be held during the event. Children’s STEAM Event
Yelm Timberland Library will host a “Children’s STEAM Event” from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. The library invites attendants to “join the gooey fun” and “dive into the wacky world” of non-Newtonian fluids by creating their own slime.
Tuesday, Aug. 27
Reptile Man visits library
“The Reptile Man” will visit Yelm Timberland Library from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27. He will present an educational live animal demonstration, set to feature eight to 12 reptiles from all over the world. Attendants of the event will have the opportunity to handle or touch several of the reptiles after the activity concludes.
Saturday, Aug. 31
Roy September Rodeo
The Roy Pioneer Rodeo returns on Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1, to provide Labor Day weekend entertainment to those in attendance. Those interested can look forward to drill team competitions, roping events, bulls, broncs, cow milking and more. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the gate. The event will last from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
