Woman Dies in Three-Vehicle Crash Near Tenino

A 27-year-old woman from Vancouver was killed and another person was injured following a three car accident near Tenino on Thursday, Jan. 12.

The woman who died at the scene was identified as Kylie C. Thompson, according to a memo from the Washington State Patrol. Kays Faris, a 56-year-old man from Rainier, was injured and transported to St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, while the person in the third vehicle, Kevin M. Ferguson, 33, of Rainier, was not injured.

WSP stated Thompson was traveling southbound on state Route 507 at Old Military Road Southeast as the two other vehicles driven by Faris and Ferguson were traveling northbound at around 2:15 p.m. on Jan. 12. Thompson reportedly crossed into the northbound lane, according to WSP, and struck the vehicle Faris was driving. Thompson then continued southbound in the northbound lane, later striking the vehicle Ferguson was driving.

Thompson’s 1995 Toyota Camry and the 2012 Ford F150 driven by Ferguson came to rest in the northbound lane, while the 2008 Ford Ranger driven by Faris came to a rest on its top on the northbound right shoulder, stated WSP.

The roadway was blocked for three hours.

All three vehicles were totaled, according to WSP.

WSP was unable to determine whether Thompson was wearing her seatbelt, but the other drivers wore them, according to the memo.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, stated WSP. The cause of the crash was determined to be excessive speed.
