In Loving Memory Of Duane Gore: 1939 ~ 2024

Posted

Duane Harold Gore passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 16, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born to Harold and Bernice Gore in Port Angeles, Washington, on May 11, 1939. He is survived by children Ricky (Laurie) Gore, Debbie Lincoln and Ronald (Kathi) Gore; grandchildren Christopher (Anne) Burnside, Amanda (Eddie) Soto, Denise Kimball, Jessica (Eddie) Shovan, John Gore, Adreanna (Chris) Paola, Chad Gore, Destiny Gore and Danyelle Gore; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great friends. His wife, Helen Rose, and sons, Rodney and Roger, preceded him in death.

Dad was an avid high school basketball fan and enjoyed going to the tournaments each year. He would often travel to Kansas City and volunteer for the March Madness so he could watch those games, as well. You could also find him watching Bethel High School football on most Friday nights. He met up with his high school buddies each month at Mary Mary’s Café for lunch.

Dad joined the Navy in 1957 and started his career on the ship Burton Island. He looked forward to attending the reunions with his other shipmates whenever he was able to. He retired from the Navy in 1976 and went on to work for the United States Postal Service, from which he was able to retire early in 1992. He was proud of the fact that he could fully retire at the “young age” of 53 years old. Mom and Dad traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motorhome. After mom died, Dad found his love of cruises. He went on many the last few years, including the Panama Canal, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.

His passing is an immense loss to all who knew him. He may be gone from sight, but he will always be in our hearts and memories.

Graveside services will be held on October 26, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Roy Cemetery in Roy, WA.
