Bulldogs take out Beavers

The Tenino volleyball team dropped its 1A Evergreen opener Tuesday in four sets, 25-22, 25-12, 25-27, 25-19 to Montesano.

Brookelynn Bratton had 14 kills, 18 digs and six assists for the Beavers, while Katen Burkhardt dished out 11 assists to go along with 14 digs, three aces, three kills and three blocks.

Brianna Asay added 19 digs, five kills, three assists and two aces, Natalie Davis had 16 digs and a team-high five aces, and Jaeleen Woodward led the defense with 29 digs.

Tenino hung tough in the first set, but couldn’t stay on that same level in the second, which put the Beavers in a deep hole.

“The wheels fell off mentally in the second,” Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said. “Even though we collected ourselves and battled back, it was not enough in the end.”

Tenino will take on Elma on Thursday.
