Thurston County Emergency Management Council to present free emergency preparedness expo

In light of September being National Preparedness Month, the Thurston County Emergency Management Council will host a free emergency preparedness expo on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The expo will take place at the Yelm Community Center at 301 Second St. SE in Yelm. The expo will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will focus on simple planning and preparation. The expo will demonstrate how knowing what to do can be a lifeline for community members and their families.

“Some simple planning, preparation and knowing what to do can help you and your family recover more quickly from an emergency or disaster” said Kyle Bustad, Thurston County Emergency Management manager.

Attendees will discover how the Thurston County Emergency Management Council serves and protects them.



The event is open to all ages, and free disaster preparedness activities will be available for all attendees.

Bloodworks Northwest will have a mobile blood drive at the expo. Attendees can make an
