Safeway Shoplifter Detained Near Morris Road

Police officers responded to a call at around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9 after an employee of the Safeway in Yelm reported three women exited the store with a handcart full of items without paying.

The reporting party noted it was just one individual with the stolen items.

After police officers received a description of the suspects 2009 Subaru Forester, they were identified and located near Morris Road.

The suspects were pulled over and the woman who was identified for stealing the items was placed under arrest for third-degree shoplifting.

Possession of Drugs and Narcotics Reported at Yelm Starbucks

At around 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, Yelm police officers responded to a call from a person at the Starbucks in Yelm who reported a man entered the bathroom about an hour beforehand and was found unresponsive.

Upon arrival, police officers were able to identify the suspect and get him out of the bathroom.



The individual had two large knives, which were in violation of the Yelm municipal code, according to a police report.

After he was detained, he informed officers that he had more knives in his pocket, as well as needles and narcotics.

After a brief search, police officers found additional knives, marijuana, needles, and 2.07 grams of methamphetamine on the man.

He was trespassed from Starbucks and placed under arrest.

Burglary Takes Place at Wyndstone Apartments

Yelm police officers responded to a call at around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5 after an employee at Wyndstone Apartments reported a theft.

Upon arrival, police officers were informed that a television was stolen from the leasing office at the apartments.

After reviewing surveillance footage, police officers saw the two individuals who stole the television, but due to the poor quality of the video, they couldn’t identify the suspects.

No further action was taken.
