Yelm police officers respond to death threat

Yelm police officers responded to reports of a death threat around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 near 91st Avenue Southeast.

Upon arrival, Yelm police officers learned the reporting party received a death threat sent by text message from his sister. The text message read, “I think you are a creepy f–k for wanting my daughter so obsessive like, and I’ll shoot you on site if I ever catch you on my property.”

He believes the text message came about due to an ongoing custody battle regarding his sister’s daughter. The reporting party said his sister lives on a property in Arizona and hasn’t been on the property down there in over a year.

Yelm police attempted to contact the sister multiple times through phone calls, but she did not answer. The reporting party wished to press charges.

Hit-and-Run



Yelm police officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run to a vehicle around 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10. The incident occurred at Dollar Tree in Yelm.

According to reports, a driver went to Safeway, Rite Aid and Dollar Tree in Yelm throughout the morning and did not notice a dent in the rear hatch of her SUV when she left Safeway. Her last stop was Dollar Tree before she returned to her residence in Rainier.

The damage was near the rear hatch of the driver’s SUV. There is no suspect information at the time as it’s unknown where the hit-and-run occurred.

Alcohol stolen from Safeway

Yelm police officers responded to a call of shoplifting theft around midnight on Thursday, Nov. 9 at Yelm’s Safeway when two women reportedly stole alcohol from the store.

A total of $137.98 in alcohol was stolen, including Casamigos tequila and Hennessy cognac. The two women were not located by Yelm police officers nor the reporting party after they left the store. The reporting party advised officers they wished to pursue charges if the two women were caught and wished them to be trespassed for life. The case is under investigation.
