Local stolen vehicle recovered by Yelm Police

Yelm police officers responded to a report of auto theft around 8:50 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3. The reporting party told officers they were preparing to take their child to the bus stop around 7:30 a.m. and realized the car was gone.

After confirming with her husband that he didn’t do anything with the car, it was confirmed the vehicle was stolen.

While on scene, officers learned the vehicle was unlocked overnight with a spare set of keys inside the vehicle.

The last time the vehicle was seen by the owners was the night prior around 10:30 p.m., and the vehicle owners had no idea as to who might have stolen it.



Prior to completing the report, a one-car collision on Bald Hills Road and Johnson Road was reported and the stolen vehicle was involved. The vehicle was also unoccupied upon the arrival of Yelm Police.

Death investigation at Yelm Prairie Hotel

Yelm police officers were dispatched to a death investigation at the Prairie Park Hotel around 1 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2023.

According to reports, officers arrived on the scene and saw a male laying under blankets with bodily waste and fluids on the bed and floor. SE Thurston Fire Authority confirmed the death of the male.

The man checked into the hotel six days prior and was scheduled for a 14-day stay, according to police reports. Police found no evidence of foul play. Medical records were found on scene and suggested the male had liver cirrhosis, which might have contributed to his death, according to reports.
