Southeast Thurston Fire Authority and East Olympia Fire District 6 announced they’ve begun the testing process for career entry level firefighters, emergency medical technicians and lateral firefighters and EMTs.

The process is described as a joint-testing procedure, and candidates will be eligible for hire at either department based on qualifications, department need and at the administration’s discretion.

The entry-level firefighter application closes Oct. 4. Applicants must be 18 years or older at the time of hire, possess a high school degree or GED, and be a current Washington EMT or NREMT by time of assessment center. The full announcement can be found at https://bit.ly/3vZ1nWa.

The lateral firefighter application closes on Oct. 13. Candidates could be eligible for hire per the minimum qualifications under the lateral job description for each agency. The full announcement can be found at https://bit.ly/35BpIa5.

Those interested in the positions must complete all of the necessary requirements and qualify for the job description in order to be considered. Successful candidates should expect to participate in further testing processes including oral boards, assessment labs, an interview with the chief, background checks, physical and psychological exams and drug testing.

Once the filling window has closed, successful candidates will be contacted through email to be informed on the following steps in the testing process.
