From the Washington State Archives: Paradise Camp Lodge opened at Paradise meadows in 1918. The facility continued in use until it was demolished by the park to expand parking facilities in the mid 1950s. The current Jackson Visitor Center stands on the site. From a handwritten note included with this photo: "Ye ancient gas chariots of July 19, 1925. Parked in Paradise Park after a long dusty ride from Seattle Tacoma and what have U.S.A. 'They traveled slowly - roughly and dangerously' like the pioneer of long, long ago."
