Bol Bol, a Yelm High School senior defensive end, announced Oct. 19 his verbal commitment to Boise State University to further his athletic and academic career.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound exchange student from Canada earned a scholarship offer from Boise State on Sept. 26 to mark his first Division I offer. He officially visited Boise in early October, and the trip convinced him to make his decision.

“Overall, it was a 10 out of 10. No complaints at all. It just felt like home,” Bol said. “As soon as I met the coaches, their vibe and the way they work, I just loved how they worked. I want to be part of a program like that and succeed all the way.”

Bol joins fellow senior offensive tackle Jacob Tracy as Yelm football student athletes headed to Boise State in 2025. Bol said his relationship with Tracy was a big factor in his decision to commit.

“He mentioned them and brought me up to them. They called me and wanted to work with me, and they want me to succeed,” Bol said of Tracy and Boise State. “[Tracy] really opened the gate for me into this college recruiting stuff. He put me on with Boise State and set the rest of my life up in a way. My relationship with him has grown a lot during the last couple of weeks, and we’ll continue to grow once we’re at Boise State.”

Bol’s recruitment took off upon his arrival to YHS. He was on the radar of some college coaches after attending several camps and showcases, but several schools, including Boise State and University of California-Berkeley, took interest when he made an immediate impact with the Tornados.

“I had no idea this would happen this fast. Moving down here exposed me to all the colleges, so once I got my Boise offer, I kind of got popular,” Bol said. “All these other colleges hit me up because they wanted to see who I am.”

Bol built a quick relationship with the Boise State coaching staff, especially edges coach Jabril Frazier, who made a trip to Spanaway to see Bol and the Tornados play against Bethel on Oct. 18.

“I chatted with him after the game. It meant a lot and showed how much they cared about me and how much they wanted me with the program,” Bol said of Frazier and the coaches. “I had to show some love back, and my love back is committing there and balling out for the next four years at Boise State.”

During his visit, he got to meet the coaches and watch the Broncos blow out Utah State, 62-30, on Oct. 5. Bol also participated in a photo shoot donning the Boise State football uniform.

“They brought me in, and it was like they knew me for five or 10 years. It was like a family, and I loved that,” he said. “I’m ready to ball out for Boise State.”

Bol is excited to finish his senior year without worrying about his recruitment. After the conclusion of the season, he plans to graduate early from YHS and enroll at BSU in the spring to prepare for the 2025 season.

“It’s a lot of weight off my shoulders. Now I can move onto the next thing and get ready for college ball,” Bol said. “The Yelm coaches have helped me improve so much throughout these eight weeks. My first game, I had no clue what I was doing here. Each one of the coaches is family now. I love them. I cherish them, and I want to build a relationship with them for the rest of my life.”
