Yelm’s Christmas in the Park ushers in holiday season with a bang

Residents of Yelm and surrounding areas, along with the Yelm Chamber of Commerce, City of Yelm, local businesses and organizations, helped usher in the holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 6, as the annual Christmas in the Park Parade returned during the morning hours.

Local entities like Yelm Farm and Pet, J&I Power Equipment, Crossroad Community Covenant Church, Turning Point USA Yelm Chapter, Rainier High School’s marching band, Yelm and Ridgeline middle school bands and many more took to Yelm Avenue at 9 a.m. and marched the streets as part of the parade.

Community members began lining up Yelm Avenue to claim a good spot for the parade earlier than 8:30 a.m. and Joseph Richardson, Yelm city councilor, kept paradegoers and participants entertained with his comedic commentary of the action.

Rain was minimal during the annual activity, and the parade itself lasted just over half an hour. Stay tuned for information about the 2026 Christmas in the Park Parade, and contact Yelm Chamber of Commerce to learn how you can participate in the event next year.
