Yelm Lions ringing Salvation Army bell this holiday season

Posted

For the 59th year, the Yelm Lions will be ringing the Salvation Army bell at the Yelm Safeway beginning Monday, Dec. 15, and continuing  through Dec. 24.

According to a press release from the Yelm Lions, the community has supported the Salvation Army through making donations to the pot as they enter and leave the store. Last year, the donations totaled $3,865. According to Lonnie Franklin, field director of the Seattle Area Salvation Army, they return more dollars to the Yelm community through Power Assistant Grants to people in need than the money donated at Safeway, according to the press release.
