The Yelm Lions Club will ring the Salvation Army bell during the week before Christmas in front of the Yelm Safeway. The project started in the early 1960s and has earned money for those in need annually. More than $1,300 was donated to the Salvation Army last year, according to a release.

The Salvation Army also provides electricity bill grants to people unable to afford their electric bill.
