Yelm Dollars for Scholars (YDFS) awarded a total of $154,300 in scholarships to graduating Yelm High School seniors during the annual awards night, June 4.

A total of 117 scholarships were distributed, consisting of 23 YDFS preferred scholarships and 94 YDFS general scholarships. This support will assist students in their pursuit of higher education. The generous contributions of the community and local organizations made the awards possible, according to a press release.

“We are incredibly proud to support our graduating seniors as they embark on their educational journeys,” YDFS Board President Dan Huttmann said in the release. “The community’s unwavering generosity ensures that these students can achieve their academic goals and build a brighter future.”

YDFS funds scholarships through several key initiatives, including the Crossroads Pumpkin Patch, the Taste of the Prairie event and the annual dinner and auction. Additionally, contributions can be made through memorials and wills, sponsoring individual scholarships, employee deductions from Yelm Community Schools staff and direct donations from community members.
