The Yelm girls soccer team finished its regular season with a bang, routing Bethel 7-1 at home on Tuesday, Oct. 28 to give first-year head coach David Temple his first victory.
Yelm had scored three goals all season prior to Tuesday, when the Tornados erupted for their most goals in a game since Sept. 10, 2024.
Sophomore Kahlan Armistead scored a hat trick by halftime, and she added a fourth goal in the second half. Rylee Hamilton and Kinley Cook each scored a goal, and senior goalkeeper Alissa Alvarado-Young also found the back of the net on her senior night.
“Yelm’s defense was playing together and on fire,” Temple said. “I am so glad for this team, and it came at the perfect time in their last game and senior night. I loved sending (the seniors) off with a win. It was an honor to coach this team with Coach Miguel and Coach Perry.”
Yelm finished with a 1-10-3 overall record and a 1-8-2 mark in the South Puget Sound League, good for 10th out of 12 teams.
