Family Storytime

Join the Yelm Timberland Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. every Thursday for family storytime. The event includes music, movement, books and activities for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. The library is at 210 Prairie Park St. NE in Yelm.

Sunday, Dec. 31

507 Taproom New Year’s Eve Party

The 507 Taproom and Filling Station East will host a New Year’s Eve Party beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31. Each ticket costs $110 and can be purchased online at Eventbrite. There will be a celebratory toast at midnight to officially send attendants into 2024.

Taste of the Prairie — Puerto Vallarta

Yelm Girls Basketball hosts Central Kitsap

Yelm High School’s girls basketball team will host the Central Kitsap Cougars at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5 inside the YHS gymnasium. The contest marks Yelm’s sixth South Sound Conference game of the season.

Bigelow House Museum Tour

The Bigelow House Museum offers regular escorted tours on the first and second Sunday of the month at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Entrance fees are $5 per adult, $4 for seniors and students, and $2 for children. The museum is located at 918 Glass Ave. NE in Olympia.

Yelm wrestling hosts North Thurston

Yelm High School’s boys wrestling team will host North Thurston High School on Thursday, Jan. 11 in a dual meet inside YHS’s gymnasium.

LEGO Club at Timberland Library



The Yelm TImberland Library is set to host a LEGO Club meeting from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 The meetings take place on the second Saturday of each month, including on Feb. 10, March 9, April 13, May 11 and June 8. Each meeting will present a monthly theme to build around, but participants are welcomed to use their creativity to create their own LEGO masterpiece, if desired. Younger children should be accompanied to the event. The library is located at 201 Prairie Park St. SE in Yelm.=

Coach Strand’s Final Home Wrestling Dual

Yelm’s wrestling program invites the community to celebrate legendary head wrestling coach Gaylord Strand as he coaches his final home dual as the program’s head coach. This season marks Strand’s 50th year as the Tornados head coach. The event is set to begin at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, as Yelm takes on the Bethel Bison. At the conclusion of the dual, community members can join former wrestlers, coaches and current athletes in celebrating Strand’s career with speakers, presents and food.

The event is for ages 21 and older. The event’s artist coach will guide participants through each step of painting the “Sweetheart Birch” art on canvas.
