Southworth Elementary levy forum

YCS 1st Coalition will host a public forum about the school district’s upcoming Educational Programs & Operations levy at Southworth Elementary, 13849 Yelm Hwy SE, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12. Yelm girls basketball hosts Graham-Kapowsin

Yelm High School’s girls basketball team will host another South Puget Sound League matchup at home as the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles come to town at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, for a league game inside YHS’s gymnasium. Tickets for the 4A SPSL matchup can be purchased online at www.GoFan.Co

Dancing Needles Friday the 13th Tattoos

Dancing Needles Tattoo shop, 9144 Burnett RD SE, will host its Friday the 13th Tattoo Event from 10 a.m. to midnight on Friday, Dec. 13. Three featured guest artists will join the tattoo shop for the event, with a total of seven tattoo artists available throughout the day. Saturday, Dec. 14

Free composting workshop

Dancing Goats and Singing Chickens Organic Farm, 14062 Yelm Hwy SE, Yelm, is hosting a free composting workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14. The event features Jeff Gage, the director of consulting at Green Mountain Technologies and a certified composting professional.  The event is free, but wear rubber boots for the farm tour. Yelm Cinemas annual toy drive

Yelm Cinemas, located 201 Prairie Park Lane SE, will host its annual toy drive and movie event beginning at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the theater. Participants will gain free entry with a donation of an unwrapped toy. The movie being shown at Yelm Cinemas will be the Christmas-themed “Elf,” starring Will Ferrell. 

Roy Cemetery Wreaths Across America



Join the Roy Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, in participating in the Wreaths Across America event at the location in Roy, 8211 288th St. S., Roy. Roy Cemetery keepers will place Christmas wreaths on the final resting place of 150 veterans at the Roy Cemetery.

Cocoa Trail Fun Run

Yelm’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the “Cocoa Trail Fun Run” beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, at Yelm City Park, SE 115 Mosman Ave. Participants must register for the event online at https://bit.ly/4cSV4oZ.

Yelm girls wrestling hosts Bethel, GK

Yelm High School’s girls wrestling team will host a dual meet on Thursday, Dec. 19, against 4A SPSL opponents, Bethel and Graham-Kapowsin high schools. The meet will begin at 6 p.m. inside of YHS’s gymnasium. 

Saturday, Dec. 21

‘Miracle on 34th Street’ matinee

Standing Room Only Theater will host a 2 p.m. matinee for a showing of its “Miracle on 34th Street” performance at the Outpost Church in Yelm, located 102 Yelm Ave. E. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased online or at the door of the event. 

Monday, Dec. 30

Yelm boys basketball hosts River Ridge

Yelm High School’s boys basketball team will host an old South Sound Conference rival at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, as the River Ridge Hawks travel to town for non-conference action against the Tornados. The contest will occur inside YHS’s gymnasium, and tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.GoFan.co
