Yelm Girls Soccer hosts Spanaway Lake

In the Tornados’ second South Puget Sound League (SPSL) South matchup of the season, Yelm is set to host Spanaway Lake at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26. Tickets for the contest between the Tornados and the Sentinels can be purchased online at www.GoFan.co

Friday, Sept. 27

Rainier Football hosts Onalaska

Rainier High School’s football team (2-1) is set to host Central 2B league opponent Onalaska (2-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, at Rainier High School. 

Saturday, Sept. 28

Final Yelm Farmers Market of season

The final 2024 Yelm Farmers Market of the season will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at 206 McKenzie Ave., near City Park. The event will feature 20 or more vendors offering farmers, artisans, bakers, beekeepers, leatherworkers and more, plus a children’s program and special events. Rainier Saturday Market 

The Rainier Saturday Market will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 206 Binghampton St. SE, near Wilkowski Park, Saturdays through September. Among the items featured are custom blankets, vintage clothing, items for horses, paintings and other artwork, bird houses, planters, doll clothes, soil testing, seedlings and more. 

35th Annual Nisqually Watershed Festival

The 35th Annual Nisqually Watershed Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. The annual, fun-for-all event can be accessed via a free shuttle from the Hawks Prairie Park-n-Ride at 2548 Hogum Bay Road NE, Olympia. Preparedness Expo 

Thurston County Emergency Management will host a “Preparedness Expo” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Yelm Community Center, 301 Second St. SE. The event, which will include activities for the whole family, invites residents to learn how organizations are preparing for and how they can prepare themselves and their families for emergencies.

Alpaca Days celebrations

To celebrate alpacas, owners from across the United States, including a farm in Yelm, will participate in national Alpaca Farm Days Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29.

The public is invited to come to La Vida Alpaca and Tahoma Vista Fiber Mill from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days to learn about the animals, the fiber they produce and the alpaca business. La Vida Alpaca and Tahoma Vista Fiber Mill is located at 15631 159th Lane SE, just off of Vail Road in Yelm.

Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders will host a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Yelm Community Center, 301 Second St. SE. It will be his first of five.

Saturday, Oct. 12

YHS Class of 2004 reunion

Yelm High School’s class of 2004 is hosting a “Homecoming Country Hoedown” reunion, scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Lisenby Farm, 25057 188th Ave. SE, Kent. The reunion will feature a “lively country-style theme.” Guests are encouraged to bring their boots and blankets for a “comfortable, festive evening.” Tickets for the event can be purchased online at https://lisenbyfarm.com/shop-1/yhs-20-year-reunion. Tickets for the event currently cost $55, however, the discounted price will soon rise to $65.
