We Love Rainier hosting gingerbread house-decorating contest

The holidays are about giving and spending time with loved ones, but what’s wrong with a little competition as well? We Love Rainier is hosting a 2023 gingerbread house contest where people can show off their best tasty residences to the community.

The organization recently had a large number of gingerbread houses donated to them, and after Santa distributed them at the Rainier tree lighting at the end of November, it’s time to get to business.

People can enter the contest by uploading their photo of their gingerbread house to the We Love Rainier WA Facebook page before Dec. 15 to be entered into the organization’s drawing for a great prize. People don’t have to use one of the We Love Rainier gingerbread houses to enter the contest; any tasty domicile will do.

“We just want to maintain that small-town feel and leave memories for these kids and family,” We Love Rainier’s George Johnson said.

The prizes come from donations by Rainier City Pizza, Rainier Grocery and Prairie Lanes.

Winners will be decided by random drawing, with the most important aspect of the competition being that a family made a gingerbread house.

“The gingerbread drawing is open to anyone who wants to submit,” Johnson said. “They have to be on our Facebook page, which has about 3,000 followers.”

The Facebook page can be found at www.facebook.com/weloverainierwa.

We Love Rainier will also be hosting a home Christmas decoration contest, and a group of volunteers will be driving around the town, picking the best and most festive job. This competition is limited to Rainier residents.
