Friday, Sept. 4
Yelm football hosts Heritage
The Yelm Tornados football team will kick off its 2026 campaign with a home game against non-conference 3A Heritage High School at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4. This non-conference matchup marks head coach Tutu Tamaalevea’s first contest as head football coach at Yelm High School.

Rainier football hosts Tenino
Two local Nisqually Valley region teams will kick off their 2026 seasons in a matchup against each other, as the Rainier Mountaineers will host the Tenino Beavers at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, in a non-conference matchup.

Saturday, Sept. 5
Military Heroes Car and Motorcycle Show
The 19th annual Military Heroes Car and Motorcycle Show is slated to take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Wilkowski Park in Rainier. All makes, models and years are welcome to enter into the show. Registration costs $20. Judging begins at 11 a.m. and awards will be handed out at 2 p.m.



Wednesday, Sept. 9
Stars and Stripes Revolutionary Road
Celebrate the 249th anniversary of the American Flag with the City of Yelm at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Yelm Community Center, located at 301 2nd St. SE. The Sons of the American Revolution and George Rogers Clark Chapter, Olympia are responsible for the accuracy of the program, which will be presented by Arthur Dolan. The event is free for the public to attend.

Monday, Sept. 14
The World’s Greatest Breakup Letter
Join the City of Yelm and presenter Arthur Dolan at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, at the Yelm Community Center for the presentation of “The World’s Greatest Breakup Letter: The Declaration of Independence.” Dolan will help the audience discover the story behind the Declaration of Independence through a fast-paced program that culminates in a reading of the original document.
