The Lacey MakerSpace at St. Martin’s University will host a spring Fix-It Fair on Wednesday, April 15.
Event volunteers will help fix clothing, lamps, housewares, jewelry, small appliances, adjust bicycles and more, for free.
“By fixing items instead of buying new ones, you help reduce waste, support a circular economy, and save money. It’s a simple yet powerful way to make a positive impact right here in Thurston County,” event organizers said in a news release. The event runs from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Lacey MakerSpace, located on the St. Martin’s University Campus at Zaverl Hall, Building 5, Baran Drive SE.
For more details and to sign up to bring an item to be fixed, visit thurstonsolidwaste.org/fixit or call 360-867-2491.
Thurston County’s Fix-It Fairs are done through a partnership between Thurston County Solid Waste and the Lacey MakerSpace
Started in November 2024, Thurston County’s Fix-it Fair recently won a Best in Category award from the National Association of Counties. The first event saw 24 volunteers repair 72 items brought by 65 attendees over 3 hours.
“Not only did the event keep 387 pounds from being discarded in the landfill, the joy and gratitude expressed by attendees easily confirmed our intention to host more volunteer-powered Fix-It Fairs in 2025,” event organizers wrote in a statement published by the National Association of Counties.
