Thurston County’s candidate filing week begins

Candidates planning to run for office in Thurston County in 2025 must file by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9. This includes all filing and filing fees.

Potential candidates are encouraged to file online at ThurstonWAVotes.gov. Credit cards are accepted.

Filing fees for each position can be found in the 2025 Candidate Guide available at ThurstonWAVotes.gov. Filing fees vary by position.

The order of candidates on the ballot will be determined by random lot draw shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9. The drawing will be held at the elections office and will stream live via Facebook Live. To stream the drawing, visit facebook.com/TCAuditor.  

Candidates who wish to file for office in person can visit the Thurston County Auditor's Election Division at 2915 29th Ave. SW in Tumwater. In-person services are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.



Candidates can also mail their filing to Thurston County Elections at 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Olympia, WA, 98502.      

Candidate filing week officially began Monday, May 5.
