The Thurston County Road Administration Board (CRAB) named Marcus Storvick its 2025 project manager of the year with an award presentation during the Thurston County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Steve Johnson, the CRAB grant programs manager, spoke to Storvick’s value as a project manager, particularly with the Green Cove Creek fish barrier removal project, before handing the award to him.

“Marcus’ leadership and skills were instrumental in the success of the Green Cove culvert replacement project. From the onset, he managed the emergency repair efforts, coordinated with a wide range of stakeholders and made critical decisions on the scope and design of the permanent replacement,” Johnson said. “His ability to navigate complex tasks was key to the project’s success. Marcus’ proactive approach, strategic thinking and ability to coordinate across multiple fronts ensured the project remained on track to meet tight deadlines and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife permitting requirements. CRAB wholeheartedly agrees and concurs with this nomination.”

Storvick, a civil engineer with the county public works team, expressed appreciation for Johnson, his mentor when he first joined the county, and public works during his brief speech.

“I’m lost for words. Thank you commissioners and public works leadership for this recognition, and especially CRAB. I’m very honored and humbled,” Storvick said. “I have family members here taking time out of their day. Like Steve said, knowing it’s a team effort, I couldn’t have done it without all of the groups he had mentioned.”
