Three Yelm High School seniors have been nominated for the 2024 United States Presidential Scholars program. Taylor Curzon and Alex Hurd were nominated in the general component section, while Taliah Boyd was nominated in the careers and technical education (CTE) category.
Candidates are evaluated on their academic achievement, personal characteristics, leadership and service activities, and an analysis of their essays. If selected as candidates, they will compete against 4,000 students for the semifinal level.
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) nominates 10 males and 10 females from across the state to the program, and each high school can nominate one male and one female in the general category and one student in the CTE category. Semifinalists will be announced in mid-April, and the scholars will be named in early May.
