Thirteen Mountaineers earn postseason football honors

As the Rainier High School football team prepares for the postseason, 13 Mountaineers student athletes are celebrating their all-league honors, which were announced Monday, Oct. 30.

Seven athletes earned first-team honors; two earned a spot on the second team; and four took home honorable mentions. Jayden Alegarbes earned both first-team honors as a return specialist and an honorable mention for his services as a defensive back. Linebacker Dorien Cano also earned defensive most valuable player.

• Matthew Kenney: offensive line and defensive line, first team

• Jake Meldrum: quarterback, first team

• Christopher Grey: running back and linebacker, first team

• Hunter Howell: wide receiver, first team

• Jared Sprouffske: tight end, first team

• Jordan Pringle: defensive back, first team



• Jayden Alegarbes: return specialist, first team

• Lukas Sollars: offensive line, second team

• Blake Roberts: linebacker, second team

• Thomas Roland: offensive line, honorable mention

• Josh Meldrum: wide receiver, honorable mention

• Jayden Alegarbes: defensive back, honorable mention

• Bryce Keller: linebacker

The Mountaineers (6-3, 5-1 2B East/West) faced Pe Ell-Willapa Valley in a 2B District 4 crossover play-in game on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Results were not available as of press time.
