Tenino Quarry Pool set to open for summer season Saturday

City of Tenino staff are preparing to open the Tenino Quarry Pool for the summer season this Saturday, June 21, from noon to 6 p.m., coinciding with the Tenino Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to a news release from the city.

Tenino Family Fun Day is free to attend and will be held at Tenino City Park. Admission to the Quarry Pool is $4 for Tenino School District residents and $6 for general admission. Those 18 and under can swim for free with a paying adult.

Following this weekend, the Tenino Quarry Pool will be open on weekends only throughout the rest of June from noon to 6 p.m., and from Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. throughout July and August, according to the city’s website.

“We are excited for this year’s Family Fun Day and all the activities we have arranged for families to participate in,” Jessica Reeves-Rush, City of Tenino PARC (parks, arts, recreation and culture) specialist, said in the release.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, enjoy the beautiful Tenino City Park and kick off the summer season with a splash at the Quarry Pool.”

The following events and performances are scheduled for Tenino Family Fun Day:

• Live stage entertainment including Reptile Rescue from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., library story time from 1 to 1:30 p.m., Prairie Steppers from 2 to 3 p.m. and a musical performance by Pacific Northwest folk music artist Bill Lenker starting at 3:30 p.m.




• Family friendly activities including inflatable bounce houses, a 4-H petting zoo, the South Thurston Fire and EMS dunk tank and carnival games courtesy of the First Presbyterian Church of Tenino

• Education exhibits including a World War II display encampment by Friends of Willie & Joe, an American Revolutionary War display from the Sons of the American Revolution, a model railroad display at the Historic Tenino Quarry House and an Operation Lifesaver display

• Puppy adoption with animals from Caring Hearts 4 Paws, a Reptile Rescue Display, a nonprofit and vendor fair and a Little Mermaid photo opportunity with the Tenino Young-at-Heart Theatre

Additionally, the Tenino Depot Museum will be open to the public, and a variety of food trucks will be on hand at the park too.

Tenino City Park and the Tenino Quarry Pool are located at 215 Park Ave. E. in Tenino.
