The annual Taste of the Prairie series benefiting Yelm Dollars for Scholars (YDFS) kicked off this week and continues through Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Each year, local restaurants donate a portion of their proceeds on a designated day to Yelm Dollars for Scholars in its mission of giving back to Yelm students.

Local businesses returning to participate in this year’s event includes El Rey Burro, Farrelli’s Pizza, Grocery Outlet, Jim Bob’s Chuck Wagon, Masonry Cafe, Puerto Vallarta, Red Lantern, Varsity Pizza and Yelm Prairie Lanes.

Businesses joining the Taste of the Prairie program include 507 Taproom, Mr. Dougs, Tahoma Valley Bar and Grill and White Horse Tavern.

The series of events showcases Yelm’s local businesses, while the establishments support an important cause. Members of the community are invited to visit the participating business on their scheduled date with a portion of proceeds from their purchases donated to support Yelm High School graduates financially while they pursue further educational experience.

To date, YDFS has raised and distributed over $2.6 million in scholarships, impacting the lives of many YHS graduates and alumni on their journey after high school.
