Rainier Storage Lockers has a new owner.

The local facility was recently acquired by Storwell Storage and renamed under its national brand. The growing West Coast-based company owns three facilities in Oregon and seven in California. This is its first location in Washington.

Ryan Brown, co-founder of Storwell Storage, said he wants to bring a five-star experience to storage renters in the Rainier area, adding that the property can become an asset to the community.

“We really prioritize kindness and compassion with an exceptional customer experience and a property that’s really well cared for and maintained,” Brown said.

Brown, who used to live in Seattle and outside Eugene, Oregon, but now resides in Los Angeles, believes his company’s tech-forward approach offers an advantage compared to Storwell’s predecessor.

“A lot of times, if someone rents a storage facility in a small town, you’ll have to wait for the manager to be in the office. You’ll have to sign a paper lease. There’s all these things,” Brown said. “We made it a lot more efficient and effective, so someone can give us a call, and they can be moving into their unit in less than 10 minutes. It’s like: photo of your driver’s license, sign the agreement on your phone, we talk to you, make sure your expectations are met, and then you’re already moving in right away.”

Storwell Storage promises renters easy access to its storage units.

“People can come in at six in the morning, or nine at night,” Brown said, adding that they won’t have to wait for a manager to come in.

That’s because management duties, including payment processing and lease executions, are conducted by Storwell’s remote customer service team.

There is, however, an onsite facility maintenance manager that focuses on the oversight, upkeep and physical needs of the property.

“It’s kind of a hybrid approach,” Brown said.

Beyond renter flexibility and exceptional service, Brown said his company emphasizes security to protect customers’ belongings.

“Unlike the vast majority of storage owners, we take security to the next level and have an in-house security team that monitors the surveillance cameras live every night to ensure that no one comes on the property outside of business hours,” he said.

The fully fenced, gated facility, located at 103 Rochester St. W., currently offers drive-up storage options for as little as $65 per month.
