Police Officer Assaulted at Store 

Yelm police officers received a call on Sunday, Oct. 23, from a Safeway employee who stated a person entered the store and stole deli produce.

Upon arrival, police officers were able to locate the woman and her boyfriend near Grocery Outlet. 

After an officer detained the man, who was previously trespassed from the store, another officer radioed to report the woman was resisting arrest inside of the store. 

According to police reports, the woman was “hand fighting” with the officer while he was trying to place her in handcuffs. The officer was also kicked in the chest.

The officer was able to detain the woman, who was arrested on charges of third-degree assault, third-degree theft and obstruction. 

The woman was booked on the third-degree assault charge. The other charges have been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office, according to police reports.

Trailer Stolen From Yelm Business

Yelm police officers received a call on Monday, Oct. 17, from Modern Custom Woodworking on Rhoton Road in Yelm, who reported a cargo trailer was stolen off of their property.



The store owner said the trailer was last seen on Friday, Oct. 14, and that there was no surveillance footage.

At this time, there are no leads but the trailer was entered into the system as stolen by Thurston County dispatch. 

Theft Reported at Walmart

Yelm police officers received a call from a store employee at the Walmart in Yelm at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, after she witnessed a woman steal merchandise from the store.

Upon arrival, the reporting party told police officers the woman’s description and they were able to identify her.  

The suspect was in the store with her boyfriend at the time.

Asset protection accompanied the woman to their office, where it was revealed that she attempted to steal $115.71 worth of merchandise from the store.

She now faces charges of third-degree shoplifting and trespass in the first-degree.

The woman was released after the incident.
