Yelm police officers are looking to the community for help identifying a suspect who placed a lit Molotov cocktail inside a vehicle on 94th Avenue Southeast in Yelm.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on May 17. The suspect appeared to be driving an older model Subaru vehicle.

Yelm police officers responded to a call at around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 when a man called to report his car had been kicked several times, resulting in damage to his vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers observed the damage to the vehicle, which included dents.

An employee at AM/PM said he heard arguing, but didn’t notice anything else.

The reporting party said he wasn’t familiar with anyone in the other vehicle that approached him prior to his car being kicked.

The reporting party stated there was an argument and a man in the other vehicle exited the car and threatened to fight him, before he kicked the vehicle.

Police officers reviewed video surveillance, but it was too grainy to identify the suspect, stated a police report.

There are no leads.

Attempted Burglary Reported Near Kayla Street

Yelm police officers responded to a call shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday, May 16 after a man called to report his ex-girlfriend was on the way to his house, and noted he had a no-contact order against the woman.

Upon arrival, officers immediately spotted the woman standing on top of a garbage can trying to enter the home, but she jumped down when confronted by the officers.

The woman then attempted to flee by foot.

She was caught by officers who then tried to place the woman in handcuffs.

After cuffing her left hand, the woman knocked the officer’s hands off of her and attempted to run again.
