Drug Violation Reported at Walmart Parking Lot

Yelm police officers observed a vehicle parked in a fire lane at the Walmart in Yelm at around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

When police officers approached the vehicle, they noticed a man in the passenger seat and a child in the back of the vehicle, but no driver.

The officers asked the man for his identification, but he refused and eventually took the child inside the store.

A woman later exited the store and approached the vehicle. She said she borrowed the vehicle, according to a police report.  When officers asked for her ID, she refused as well, but eventually gave the officers her name.

After police officers searched her name, they saw that she had an unconfirmed $1,000 bail misdemeanor warrant out for her arrest.

She was detained by officers and was placed in the backseat of a police car.  The woman reportedly was able to free her hands from the handcuffs. She equipped tin foil and a lighter and appeared to smoke a narcotic in the police car, stated the report.

The actions were captured on camera and the woman was arrested on possession of a controlled substance.

Residential Burglary Reported Near Greenleaf Avenue Southeast

Yelm police officers responded to a call at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11 after a person called to report their door was kicked in at their residence.

The suspects reportedly ran from the scene after the act was committed, stated a police report.

Police officers spotted four individuals walking away from the scene of the crime as they  headed south toward Cascadian Avenue. The officer turned their lights on to question the two boys and two girls.

The individuals stated they were headed home from Fort Stevens Elementary School.

Due to their defensive tone, the officer believed they were lying.

The reporting party showed officers footage of the incident, which confirmed one of the individuals as a suspect. The footage showed three other individuals in the background but the lighting obscured their identity.

One suspect was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary.
