120 Juvenile Marijuana Plants Confiscated During Traffic Stop

Yelm police officers observed a white BMW driving 50 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone near Grove Street in Yelm on Monday, Sept. 5.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Yelm Avenue East and the man drove through the intersection before he parked his car in the Apex Grocery parking lot.

Police attempted to question the man, but a language barrier put a damper on that, according to police reports.

Through the use of a translator, officers were able to communicate with the man and obtain his identification.

Officers reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

An officer on site noticed several juvenile marijuana plants visible in the back of the car and they asked the man to step out of the vehicle.

The man forgot to put his vehicle in park, causing it to roll and nearly hit a police car, stated the report.

While searching the vehicle, police officers counted 120 juvenile marijuana plants in total.

The plants were confiscated and the man was released at the scene.
