Local firefighters and Thurston County Sheriff’s Office employees will hit the hardwood on Saturday, Oct. 24, for the fourth annual Fire and Ice charity basketball game at Tumwater High School.
The game raises money for the annual Shop With a Cop event, which allows underserved children in Thurston County the opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts for themselves and their families.
The basketball game raised nearly $9,000 last year, a jump by about $2,000 from the previous year, allowing 40 children from Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County and Family Support Center to participate in the Shop With a Cop.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with tipoff between the local firefighters and local law enforcement at 5:30 p.m. Admission costs $10, and children under 12 get in free. Concessions and a food truck are available.
Team Fire has won two of the three matchups, including a 75-56 victory over Team Ice on Nov. 22, 2025.
