Seven different Tenino cross country runners set new personal records, and nine others set season-best marks at a 1A Evergreen League Meet in Rochester on Thursday.

Josiah Marzolf (18:37.39), Porter Mowry (20:24.17), Weston Frank (22:20.09), Nathan Pye (23:14.60), Luke Kennedy (27:40.02), Chloe Suess (25:07.69), and Isabel Steketee (36:32.97) all set new PRs, a feat that Tenino coach Frank Swenson called “a great surprise.”

Carter Mounts was Tenino’s highest finisher on the boys side, as his mark of 18:26.73 was good enough for fourth place, one spot ahead of Marzolf, who also earned a top-five finish.

Rochester’s Kian Christiansen was Rochester’s highest placer on the boys side, placing eighth with a time of 19:11.45, and Tenino’s Sevrin Mickelson finished 11th at 19:28.74.

On the girls’ side, Tenino’s Samantha Smith and Haley Huber crossed the finish line within four-tenths of a second of each other, as Smith placed seventh with a time of 24:05.14 and Huber finished eighth at 24:05.48.

Suess finished 11th, and a trio of Warriors — Kenzie Blankenship (25:20.59), Seraschel Aldrich (25:35.10), and Ari Longmire (25:46.28) — came in at 12th, 13th, and 14th, respectively.
