Roy councilors retake oath of office after re-election

The Roy City Council is set for the next two years as the mayor and councilors were sworn in during the council’s Dec. 11 meeting.

All five councilors stood and were sworn in by Mayor Kimber Ivy, who was later sworn in by Councilor Yvonne Starks. Ivy and four of the councilors — Jim Rotondo, Yvonne Starks, Harvey Gilchrist and William Starks — were re-elected. Councilor Rachel Chavez was not on the ballot, as she replaced Clayton Grubb, who resigned in September. Grubb was re-elected despite not being on the council, so he had to re-submit his resignation in order for Chavez to be sworn in officially.

The council voted on Nov. 27 for Yvonne Starks to maintain her position as mayor pro tem.

“Congratulations council on your re-election. I’m excited to move forward as a team, and bring on 2024,” Ivy said to the council during the meeting.
