Saturday’s Olympia XC Classic was broken down by grade and the race was only two miles, but two Rainier sophomores ended the day as the area’s highest finishers.

Komaire Robles and Alexis Myers crossed the finish line in third and fifth place, respectively, in the sophomore division at LBA Park. Those two weren’t the only Mountaineers that found themselves in the top-10.

Senior Jazzlyn Shumate placed seventh in 13 minutes, 18.20 seconds. Robles’ time was 13:17 and Myers’ time was 13:30.80. Junior Kinsley Barlow placed 19th in the juniors race.

W.F. West freshman Kate Turner and senior Azami Bortoletto each registered 20th place finishes. Black Hills’ duo of sophomore Maddie Knight and Averie Reynolds both finished inside the top-25.

Rochester’s best finisher was freshman Ari Longmire, who placed 33rd.

On the boys side, Rainier also had the best area finishers in freshman Shane Parker and senior James Morrison. Parker ran 12:13.30 to secure 15th in the freshman race while Morrison ran 11:23 flat to finish 14th in the senior race. Fellow senior Zach Hamilton was 27th.

W.F. West’s two best finishers were senior David Moeckel (29th) and sophomore Connor Clary (33rd). Black Hills’ Seth Thomasson and Rochester’s Kian Christiansen placed 34th and 47th, respectively, in the sophomore race.
