The Rainier High School boys and girls wrestling teams earned some reps at a league mixer at Napavine High School Thursday, Jan. 9, with four girls and 10 boys winning at least one match.
Dakota Gardner, 110 pounds; Ayana Elmstead, 125 pounds; Chloe Willis, 190 pounds; and Ryleigh Cruse, 235 pounds; came away with one victory each in the event.
Carson Delaney, 126 pounds; Nick Starr, 144 pounds; Ean Viik, 157 pounds; Zander Peck, 165 pounds; Jace Lavender, 215 pounds; and Blake Roberts, 215 pounds; won two matches each. Connor Power, 157 pounds; Johnny Grimmett, 165 pounds; Dominic Cano, 175 pounds; and Dorien Cano, 175 pounds; earned one victory each.
The mixer was the first of three straight days of wrestling for the boys as they will take on Ritzville in a dual at Rainier High School at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. The Mountaineers will return to their home mat Saturday, Jan. 11 at 9:30 a.m. for the Sgt. Justin Norton Memorial Wrestling Tournament.
The girls will compete in the Jan. 18 Iron Sharpens Iron tournament at Spanaway Lake High School.
