The Rainier baseball team dropped consecutive run-rule contests on the road Monday afternoon to Toutle Lake, 11-0 and 11-1.

The Mountaineers were no-hit in the first game, with University of Portland commit and Toutle pitcher Connor Cox throwing a five-inning no-no with nine strikeouts, one walk, and one hit batter.

Hunter Howell drew the lone walk for the Mountaineers in the first game.

In the second contest, Jared Sprouffske got Rainier on the board with a run scored and a 1 for 2 line at the plate. Sprouffske also pitched in relief of Gavin Owen, allowing just one hit with two runs — one earned — with three walks and a strikeout. Owen went the first two innings and gave up nine runs, with six earned, on five hits, three walks and a strikeout.

Rainier takes on Napavine on the road Friday for its next contest.
