The Mountaineers rebounded from a Week 4 loss to begin C2BL East play on Friday night with a dominant 60-0 victory over the Vikings at home.
Rainier signal caller Ryan O’Neal was 4-of-5 passing, but lit up the scoreboard with four touchdowns and 149 yards. Two of those TDs went to Jacob Hanson and the other was a 40-yard score to Zander Bartell.
Bartell and AJ De Armas each found paydirt on the ground for the Mountaineers (3-2, 1-0 C2BL East).
Mossyrock (1-4, 0-2) struggled for the second straight week on the offensive side of the ball. Austin Isom ended as the Vikings best ball carrier with 34 yards on 13 carries. Still, back-to-back shutouts led head coach Robbie Dailey to admit they needed to “right the ship.”
“At this point, it is getting our guys in the right mindset,” Dailey added. “We still haven’t put up a good 48 minutes of Viking football.”
Up next for Mossyrock is their final non-league game against Columbia (White Salmon) at home on Friday night.
