A 67-year-old Oregon woman was announced dead at Providence St. Peter Hospital Friday from injuries suffered during a single-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 near Lacey, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred about 7:23 p.m. Oct. 24. The state patrol originally withheld the name of the woman pending the notification of next of kin by the Thurston County Medical Examiner.
On Monday, Oct. 27, the state patrol identified the woman as Rhonda S. Long of Springfield, Oregon.
According to the state patrol, Long was driving a 2006 Honda CR-V approaching milepost 114 when her vehicle “left the roadway to the right and struck the right side barrier.”
The CR-V then "reentered the roadway, crossed all lanes, and struck the left side barrier,” the memo stated.
The CR-V reportedly came to rest on the left shoulder of the interstate.
According to the state patrol, Long was not wearing a seat belt.
The cause of the accident was listed as “lane travel and over-correcting.”
