One charged, three injured in Tacoma accident

Three Roy residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Tacoma on Saturday, March 2.

Wyatt Walters, 16, Roy, was charged with second-degree negligent driving. According to a police report, Walters was traveling westbound on state Route 702 approaching Eighth Avenue South when he attempted a left turn onto southbound Eighth Avenue.



The report stated, Walters failed to yield, and his 1998 Toyota Tacoma struck the vehicle of Brett Lee, 62, and Nancy Lee, 65, both of Roy. Walters’ vehicle came to rest facing east in the westbound lane of state Route 702, and the Lees’ 2017 Ford F350 came to rest on the right shoulder on the opposite side. The roadway was blocked for 50 minutes, and both vehicles were totaled. The Lees were both transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, and Walters was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.
