Food Bank

The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. NW in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15. Clients cannot enter the building and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.

Friday, Sept. 16

Yelm Tornados Football Game

The Yelm Tornados (2-0) return home for a South Sound Conference matchup with the Central Kitsap Cougars (0-2) on Friday, Sept. 16. Kickoff begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are available to purchase online.

Saturday, Sept. 17

Yelm Amateur Radio Group

The Yelm Amateur Radio Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. The group is a nonprofit organization that provides testing for licensing related to radio, as well as an interest in amateur radio. The group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 206 Third St. SE, in Yelm.

Tenino Railroad Days

The community is invited to attend Tenino Railroad Day, which will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. There will be a ribbon-cutting for the city’s caboose, historical exhibits and activities revolving around the railroad, local vendors, food and live entertainment, including a performance from SeaStar. Events will occur at the Tenino City Park as well as the Tenino Depot Museum located at 399 W. Park Ave.



Yelm Farmers Market

The Yelm Farmers Market summer series continues on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Yelm Community Park. The market opens at 10 a.m. and wraps up at 3 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 22

Prairie Point Quilters Guild Meeting

The Prairie Point Quilters Guild hosts its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rainier Senior Center, 108 Michigan St. S. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the group for its meetings.

Saturday, Oct. 1

Harvest Fest

The Lacamas Community Center will host “Harvest Fest” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. There will be over 30 local vendors and small business owners at the event. Booths include different crafts, produce, jams, jewelry, homemade items and more. Breakfast will be offered from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the community center, with lunch to follow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 29

Trunk or Treat

Moore Designs will host a trunk or treat event at Yelm Cinema from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. There are over 90 parking spots on the asphalt and a field that’s available for use. Awards will be given for best in show, best costume, best theme, and kids choice award. Dash plaques will be given to all participants who bring a vehicle to decorate. Giveaways will include an autographed photo from Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in Addams Family, and an autographed photo from Joseph Quinn, who played Eddie Munson from Stranger Things. The event is free.
