Food Bank
The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. NW in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 2. Clients cannot enter the building and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.
Rainier Elementary Registration
The registration period for kindergartners for the 2023-24 school year at Rainier Elementary School is open. Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. Parents and guardians can pre-register their future student online at www.rainier.wednet.edu/domain/60. Click on the registration link to fill in the form. Staff from the elementary school’s office will contact parents to confirm their interest in kindergarten and will review the registration process and paperwork. On Friday, March 3, people can visit El Rey Burro in Yelm from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Yelm Dollars for Scholars. El Rey Burro is located at 706 E. Yelm Ave.
The Little Mermaid

Yelm Amateur Radio Group
The Yelm Amateur Radio Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4. The group is a nonprofit organization that provides testing for licensing related to radio, as well as an interest in amateur radio. The group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 206 Third St. SE, in Yelm.

On Tuesday, March 7, people can visit Grocery Outlet in Yelm from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Yelm Dollars for Scholars. Grocery Outlet, at 1000 E. Yelm Ave., is open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the event.

Prairie Point Quilters Guild Meeting
The Prairie Point Quilters Guild hosts its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rainier Senior Center, 108 Michigan St. S. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the group for its meetings.

Dollars for Scholars Dinner and Auction
Yelm Dollars for Scholars will host its 28th annual dinner and auction at the Lake Lawrence Community Club at 15735 Topaz Drive SE on Saturday, March 11. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at yelm.dollarsforscholars.org.
Traveling Treasures St. Patrick’s Day Sale
Traveling Treasures Pacific Northwest Vendor Group is set to host a St. Patrick’s Day sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at the Nisqually Moose Lodge at 1117 W. Yelm Ave. Admission is free to all. Local vendors and businesses will sell their goods.
