Business After Hours

The Yelm Chamber of Commerce will host July’s Drive 507 Business After Hours networking event at 5:07 p.m. on Thursday, July 28. The event will feature “a parking lot party under the big top” with Mat Magick and InGenius! Art Gallery. There will be networking opportunities, snacks and music. It will take place at 207 First St. S., Yelm.

TYT Theatre Performance

The Tenino Young-At-Heart Theatre will host its last three performances of the musical, “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” at the Tenino High School commons, starting on Thursday, July 28. The show is produced by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. The musical will be shown at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29. It will also take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 30. Tickets are $13 for students and seniors, and $15 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at www.teninoyoungathearttheatre.org.

Food Bank

The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. NW in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 28. Clients cannot enter the building, and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.

Prairie Point Quilters Guild Meeting

The Prairie Point Quilters Guild hosts its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rainier Senior Center, 108 Michigan St. S. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the group for its meetings.

Saturday, July 30

Mermaid Fest

The 2022 Mermaid Fest returns to Yelm City Park on Saturday, July 30. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and is expected to wrap up around 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 2

Senior Lunches

The Yelm Adult Community Center will hold its weekly lunches at 11:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays through Fridays. Senior Services for the South Sound operates the Senior Nutrition Program, using the Yelm Senior Center’s commercial kitchen and dining room, at 16530 103rd Ave. SE in Yelm. Their staff prepares lunches for the Yelm, Tenino and Rochester senior centers and Meals on Wheels for homebound seniors in the area.



Friday, Aug. 5

Jazz in the Park

The fifth annual Jazz in the Park takes place on Friday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. The festivities will occur at the Yelm City Park, with no charge for admission. People are asked to bring blankets, chairs and food. There will also be food offered on site. A beer and wine garden will be available.

Saturday, Aug. 6

Yelm Amateur Radio Group

The Yelm Amateur Radio Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6. The group is a nonprofit organization that provides testing for licensing related to radio, as well as an interest in amateur radio. The group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 206 Third St. SE, in Yelm.

Saturday, Aug. 20

Yelm Lions Club Cornhole Tournament

The Yelm Lions Club will hold its third annual cornhole tournament on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Mr. Doug’s Restaurant in Yelm. The event begins at noon and will conclude at 6 p.m. Teams must pay an $80 registration fee. Registration is limited to the first 32 teams that sign up. Monday, Aug. 22

Yelm Lions Annual Membership Picnic

The Yelm Lions Club will host its annual membership picnic on Monday, Aug. 22 beginning at 6 p.m. and wrapping up around 8 p.m. The picnic will be hosted at Wilcox Farms.

Friday, Aug. 26

Rainier Bluegrass Festival

The Rainier Bluegrass festival is a three day event that kicks off Friday, Aug. 26 from 3 to 7 p.m. The Bluegrass Festival will feature live music, food vendors and more. The festival will also run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 and begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28. Camping spots can be reserved online at www.rainierpickinparty.com.
