Food Bank

The Yelm Community Services food bank, at 624 Crystal Springs St. NW in Yelm, will hold a food giveaway from 1 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. Clients cannot enter the building and must wait in their vehicles. Staff will have pre-packed carts of food to hand out. To prevent health issues, the usual food sign-in procedures will not take place. Staff will ask the number of people in the family. People who come can only pick up for their own family. Please park in front of the food bank building.

Saturday, Feb. 18

Olympia Chamber Orchestra Performance at Yelm Community Center

The Olympia Chamber Orchestra is set to perform at the Yelm Community Center at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18. The event is free to the public. Attendees will hear a plethora of live, classical music.

Yelm Amateur Radio Group

The Yelm Amateur Radio Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18. The group is a nonprofit organization that provides testing for licensing related to radio, as well as an interest in amateur radio. The group meets on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 206 Third St. SE, in Yelm.

Wednesday, Feb. 22

Community Resource Fair

Yelm Community Schools will host a community resource fair at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Yelm High School, 1315 W. Yelm Ave. Over 60 organizations who provide services to Thurston County families will be in attendance. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a panel discussion in the high school commons with a variety of speakers who will discuss support for families in need of social, emotional and physical health resources. The event is open to the community.

Thursday, Feb. 23

Prairie Point Quilters Guild Meeting

The Prairie Point Quilters Guild hosts its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rainier Senior Center, 108 Michigan St. S. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join the group for its meetings.

Taste of the Prairie: Jim Bob’s Chuck Wagon

On Friday, Feb. 24, people can visit Jim Bob’s Chuck Wagon in McKenna from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Yelm Dollars for Scholars. Jim Bob’s Chuck Wagon is located at 35119 state Route 507 in McKenna.

The Yelm drama and stagecraft program will present “The Little Mermaid” at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at Yelm High School, 1315 W. Yelm Ave. Tickets are available online at gofan.co/app/school/WA23372.

On Friday, March 3, people can visit El Rey Burro in Yelm from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Yelm Dollars for Scholars. El Rey Burro is located at 706 E. Yelm Ave.

On Tuesday, March 7, people can visit Grocery Outlet in Yelm from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Yelm Dollars for Scholars. Grocery Outlet, at 1000 E. Yelm Ave., is open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the event.

On Wednesday, March 8, visit Varsity Pizza in Roy from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Yelm Dollars for Scholars. Varsity Pizza in Roy is located at 35025 90th Ave. S.

Saturday, March 11

Dollars for Scholars Dinner and Auction

Yelm Dollars for Scholars will host its 28th annual dinner and auction at the Lake Lawrence Community Club at 15735 Topaz Drive SE on Saturday, March 11. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at yelm.dollarsforscholars.org.

Traveling Treasures St. Patrick’s Day Sale

Traveling Treasures Pacific Northwest Vendor Group is set to host a St. Patrick’s Day sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at the Nisqually Moose Lodge at 1117 W. Yelm Ave. Admission is free to all. Local vendors and businesses will sell their goods.
