Mountaineers offense shines in win over Tigers

Rainier’s offense had a great night on the turf at Tiger Stadium on Thursday, tallying nearly 400 total yards in a 28-14 victory over Centralia.
As a team, the Mountaineers ran for 235 yards, including 79 from Keagin Howell, 71 from Jayden Alegarbes, and 52 from Dorien Cano.

Alegarbes and Cano both added touchdowns, and so did Jordan Pringle, who hauled in 133 yards and a score on four catches.

Jackson Stockdale finished with 159 yards and that TD through the air.

“The biggest part was getting healthy and getting our right side of the offensive line back. Our only loss was to Toledo, which is a pretty dang good team,” Rainier head coach Andy Bartell said of the last five games. “It goes to show that any given Friday, anyone can get hot. It was our cleanest game all season. It was a big night for Rainier football. A whole new season starts tomorrow.”

Centralia was again led by Malcolm Tukes, who ran for 147 yards on the ground. Caden Erickson and Alex Ahern connected for a 29-yard touchdown through the air.

The Tigers finish their season 2-7 and will graduate ten seniors.

Rainier (4-5) has now won four of five after starting 0-4, and the Mountaineers will play either Coupeville or Friday Harbor for a state spot next week.
