After sinking a final 6-foot putt for par, the Rainier High School contingent cheered, and freshman Joshua Peralta was all smiles as he was crowned the newest 2B District 4 champion on Thursday, May 9, at Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview.

Peralta came out on top in the tournament, shooting a 163 to win by three strokes, finishing ahead of Adna’s Braeden Salme with 166. Peralta is the first Rainier golfer to qualify for the state tournament, which will be held on May 21-22 at Tumwater Valley Golf Course in Tumwater. He and freshman Thomas Sprouffske combined to score 24 team points, enough to finish third in the district team standings.
