Mountaineers Beat Spartans in Season Debut

Debuting a new-look team with some fresh faces, the Rainier girls basketball team defeated Forks on the road, 49-42, Friday night.

The Mountaineers were led by Angelica Askey, who scored 19 points and helped them get out to a big lead in the first quarter, scoring 26 points to the Spartans 15. After a 2-2 second quarter, and a 6-8 third, the Mountaineers held on in a frenetic fourth to win its opener. 

Bryn Beckman added 11 points to help the Mountaineers in double figure scoring.

Rainier takes on Adna next at home on Wednesday.
